CeCe McDonald is arrested and jailed after surviving an attack by Dean Schmitz, a white man who reportedly bore a Swastika tattoo on his chest. The attack and McDonald’s trial received extensive media coverage and fomented stronger abolitionist demands and protection for survivors and incarcerated trans people. McDonald was released from prison in 2014 and continues to advocate for abolition and trans liberation.
